Nottingham University Medics Football Club (NUMFC to our friends) are a team made up of both students and doctors, which has been running since the 1970’s. We currently run three men's teams and one women's team to suit all abilities, with the first and second teams playing in the local Nottinghamshire league, the third team playing intra-mural football against teams from other courses and a women’s side as well. Matches take place at the weekends (1s + 2s on Sunday, 3s on Saturday), with training for the whole squad midweek in the evening.
NUMFC have won the NAMS tournament on two occasions, a prestigious national tournament which takes place between every medical school in the UK and Ireland, and is hosted in a different city each year. This year, Nottingham will play host to this key date in the university sporting calendar! Other activities include regular socials involving all club members (club ties compulsory), on occasion being joined by the netball girls! An annual Students vs. Doctors alumni match is another highlight of the social calendar, a competitive affair which precedes a meal and big night out in the evening. Last year we were joined by veterans from as far back as the 1980s!
Subs are £65 for a normal membership, with discounted rates for training only and special freshers rates of £45 for your first year! It's a great way to keep fit and hone your skills, whether you are just starting out or have been playing for years, as well as being the perfect place to meet new people from throughout the Medical School and make useful contacts from students and doctors alike. If you have any questions or want to sign up, we will be at the Fresher’s Fair, or alternatively you can email Joe Heath at email@example.com. You can also find the club's Facebook page by searching NUMFC. Otherwise, just come along to training. We look forward to seeing you there!
